So many of my favorites are back!  My eyes light up every time Zach Wilder or Jason McStoots walk in the room.  You’ll see why, I’m sure.  And Brenna Wells.  And Douglas, of course.  And Tess. 

But I work in moments.  One moment, that sums it all up.  Yesterday.  First rehearsal.  BEMF.  It was this:

I always go out to the hallway and shoot through the door.  I don’t always use it but it’s one of my favorite opening shots in a piece. I think it explains visually exactly what I’m doing.  We get to peek in.  We get to be a fly on the wall.  Look what’s going on in here.

2007 was my first year shooting for BEMF and this shot was one of the first I made.  same church rehearsal room.  same framing.  almost.  my lens is wider now.   hooray.

but when I stepped out yesterday, framed it up and hit record, I heard Jose Lemos singing… the same singer… Jose Lemos with the breathtaking countertenor… it was this same voice that was singing back in 2007 when I showed up.   It felt like magic.  I had tears in my eyes.
